NGV and bioNGVmobility

As a mature, tried and tested technology, NGV is an important lever for decarbonising mobility. This is all the more true of bioNGV, the renewable version based on energy recovery from waste.

NGV and bioNGV: low-carbon gas mobility

NGV mobility uses natural gas as a fuel. Natural gas is chiefly composed of methane, which has a low carbon content and therefore emits fewer atmospheric pollutants on combustion. Significantly, there is a reduction of nearly 90% in nitrogen oxide emissions compared with diesel. That is why NGV vehicles have access to city centres with the Crit'air level 1 sticker (required in 2025 for low-emission zones),

We talk of bioNGV when the vehicle is fuelled with biomethane, a renewable gas produced by methanisation, a process that is used to recycle waste and produce electricity. With bioNGV, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions goes even further. In fact, emissions of CO2, NOx (nitrogen monoxide and dioxide) and fine particulates are quartered compared with diesel.

The advantages of NGV-bioNGV

NGV mobility is a mature, accessible technology, making it easy for users to accept.

The main advantages of switching to NGV-bioNGV:

  • a wide range of vehicles (light, heavy, specialised) at competitive prices,

  • the possibility of converting internal combustion vehicles to NGV (refitting),

  • a range of 400 to 800 km,

  • half the noise level,

  • mobility suitable for both short and long distance travel,

  • financial costs comparable with diesel,

  • refuelling is as quick as for diesel or petrol.

Our support

Every NGV project is different. Whether you are a local authority, a transport company or a private NGV filling station project owner, our experts will study your problems and bring you the best answers according to your location and challenges. Depending on your plans and your territory, we can therefore offer different types of support: project advice and monitoring, co-financing of the studies needed to define it, and most of all investment in your bioNGV filling station project. It is in this spirit, true to our strategy as an accelerator of the energy transition, that we have strengthened our partnership with EnR64 (Energies Renouvelables des Pyrénées-Atlantiques) to create STIRVIA, a new company whose aim is to develop a network of public NGV/bioNGV filling stations across the Pyrénées-Atlantiques territory.
